Coaches Helper

Every week Ryan gets film from the team they will play for their upcoming football game. He goes in the back and meticulously studies the film to know how to prepare his team in practice the week leading up to the game. He draws up plays the other team runs and how his team will defend them and comes up with ones they will run themselves. It really is quite a process. Anyway, Harbor loves to be with her daddy and help out with whatever he is doing. He was going over film one afternoon when she asked what he was doing. He had paper drawing up plays and she was so curious about it. He told her what he was doing and asked her if she wanted to help him. Of course she said yes, and he set her up with her own clipboard and play paper and a pen and continued to go through film. She must have very carefully paid attention to what he was doing because of the detail she put into her plays. It was too cute! Ryan is an awesome dad and so patient. He very easily could have sent her away so he could focus, but it turned into quite a cute bonding moment. Love you Honey!

First Day of School

School has started again for the kids over the last couple weeks. I was ready for school to start just so we could be to some sort of routine again. But at the same time it means my kids are a year older as well. I think we all wish we could keep them small, but that just isn't possible. So it was a little bitter-sweet. They were all very excited to go back though. (I don't know if they feel the same now with all the homework. Monday night takes us hours to get it all done.)

Hailey started 4th grade, Hunter 1st, and Harbor started preschool just this last week.

Hunter had his birthday the day before school started so he got to take his birthday poster and celebrate on the first day.

Harbor started Preschool this last week. She goes 3 days and gets to ride the bus. I wasn't sure how she would do because she is my child that struggles with change and new things just kind of freak her out. But she did awesome and jumped right on the bus. She loves school and was mad on Friday when I told her she didn't have school that day. She couldn't understand why Hailey and Hunter went and she didn't. So sweet. Sending my baby to school was a little hard. My other two I was excited for, but sending her-knowing she will probably be my last--was difficult. We are entering another stage of our lives with all our kids in school.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a very good Labor Day weekend. Our plans changed just a little since the weather was going to be rotten. We were going to go up the canyon with some friends on Saturday, but it was cold and windy so we decided to stay home. On Monday we had planned to take the kids to Lagoon, but thought the kids would be miserable in the wind and rain. So we hung out at home and got some projects done.

On Saturday I attempted bottling pickles for the first time. It turned out pretty good and they are tasty. I only busted the bottom out of one jar. I now know you can't put the cool jars into the boiling water. That would seem to be common sense, but I didn't think about it. I ended up with 6 pints.

We decided on Monday we wanted to paint the kids' bathroom. It had been a project we wanted to get done for a while and knew exactly what we wanted. So we went paint shopping early Monday morning and finished painting that afternoon. It is very bright, but I love how it turned out. My plan is to accessorize with all bright colors--pink, blue, orange, purple. Now I just have to get the shower curtain and towels and rugs.

I have hated the brass knobs on my kitchen cabinets since we bought our house. We wanted to do black and found the perfect ones at Home Depot. It changed the look in the kitchen a lot.

I felt bad we didn't get to do the things we had planned with the kids, but I feel like we got a lot accomplished.

The Beginning

So I guess I will jump into this blogging world. I have been contemplating it for a while now. I am totally obsessed with checking blogs. I even find myself reading random people's who I don't know. I guess that makes me a blog stalker. In my head I have a really cute blog. When I take pictures or we do things I think, "This is totally how I would put it in a blog." So now it is time to really start my own. I hope this to be a good way to keep a record of my family and be somewhat of a journal for us. My time just does not allow me to scrapbook like I would like to, so hopefully this can help with that. Many of you have been very inspiring to me through your blogs, and I hope that I can be as well. So here goes. I don't really know what I am doing, but I guess I will get it figured out soon enough.
